Allyson Felix

Allyson Michelle Felix was born in Los Angeles on November 18 1985. Paul Felix, her father, was an ordained pastor from Master's Seminary Sun Valley. Marlean Felix worked at Balboa Magnet elementary school. Felix showed an early aptitude for athletics when she was in high school at Los Angeles Baptist High School. She discovered her sprinting talent at that moment. In only 10 weeks following her first race, Felix came in second place in the 200-meter event on the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix got a contract to pursue a professional career with Adidas in 2003, and then enrolled at University of Southern California to study elementary education. Felix's debut Olympic medal came during the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens Greece. Felix set the record of world juniors for sprinting 200 meters in 22.18 seconds. She was the youngest ever world champion in the 200m in the 2005 Helsinki World Championships and defended her title in 2007, beating the long-time Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix was a frequent competitor at Beijing, London Rio de Jaeiro, and Tokyo. She always finished in the top three of the events.
