Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), a nurse, and Lance
Frederick McAdams who is truck driver and furniture moving. She is of English,
Welsh, Irish and Scottish descent. Rachel began acting as an teen. At 13 she
was in Shakespearean performances at summer theater camp. Following graduation,
Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in Theater. After her debut
on television on Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, Rachel starred in Canadian
television's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy-drama follows the struggles of
Shakespearean theater groups. Rachel was awarded a Gemini Award for her
performance in 2003. Her breakout role in Mean Girls (2004) as Regina George
instantly landed her on the Hollywood's top list of young actors. After that
film she was paired with Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). It was a big hit
in the box office and quickly became the leading romantic drama for a younger
generation of moviegoers. McAdams and Gosling fell in love during filming, and
continued to stay in touch up to the middle of 2007. McAdams' next film was the
comedy Wedding Crashers (2006), the thriller Red Eye (2004), and the Christmas
drama The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent film through
Married Life (2007) which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It also
featured Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper, as well as Patricia Clarkson. After
appearing in The Lucky Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The Time Traveler's
Wife (2009), McAdams appeared opposite Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy
Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the fiery
producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's romantic
fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to romantic drama
territory in The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. The actress also stars with
Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) as well as alongside
Noomi Rapace in Brian de Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams
received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the Year" Award as well as
the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
