Emma Watson
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the daughter of British parents Jacqueline Luesby (a lawyer) and Chris Watson (a French mother). When she was five, she was moved to Oxfordshire and went to Dragon School. Emma realized she wanted to act at the age of six. She was trained for several years at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her singing, dancing and acting. She was a stagecoach performer and played the lead in several Stagecoach productions. In 1999, casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) it was the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight consecutive auditions the producer David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been chosen for the roles of the three leads, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut screen performance in cinema was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). It was the top-grossing feature of 2001, breaking records in terms of opening-day sales and opening weekend takes. The performances of the film and of its three young stars received praise from critics. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper that is widely published, described Emma's performance as "admirable." Then, Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an Feature Film. Emma was one of the most famous actresses after the movie's success. Emma continued to play the character as Hermione Granger for a total of 10 years, appearing in all of the subsequent Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011). Emma has been nominated twice for Critics Choice Awards by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
